50% organic growth in 90 days — and cited by AI engines

a mid-market services firm serving enterprise clients nationwide

Challenge

The firm's existing site was slow, structured around a decade-old sitemap, and effectively invisible to search — organic traffic had been flat for years while paid-ad spend quietly grew to cover the gap. Sub-1% conversion on that paid traffic was masking just how little the organic channel was actually contributing.

Content was written for a person browsing a page, not for how search actually works today. There was no structured data connecting the pages to a single consistent entity, no content block anywhere on the site that directly answered a real question in the first few sentences, and inconsistent naming of the firm itself across the handful of external profiles that did exist.

Leadership had a more specific worry underneath the traffic numbers: prospective clients were increasingly asking ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews before ever visiting a website at all, and the firm had no presence whatsoever in those answers — a channel classic SEO metrics don't even measure.

Solution

The rebuild started with the fundamentals any AI answer engine still depends on: a fast, cleanly structured architecture with real Core Web Vitals, semantic heading hierarchy, and URLs organised around what clients actually search for rather than how the org chart was organised internally.

On top of that foundation, every page was wired into one consistent structured-data graph — Organization, Service and FAQ schema all referencing the same entity — so a search engine or an AI system parsing the site has one unambiguous answer for who the firm is and what it does, instead of piecing it together from inconsistent page copy.

Key pages were rewritten so the opening paragraph directly and completely answers the question a prospective client — or an AI assistant summarising the page on their behalf — would actually ask, with the fuller explanation and supporting detail underneath it rather than buried three paragraphs down.

A quarterly content-freshness review was put in place afterward, since both traditional search and AI answer engines weight how current a page's information visibly is — this isn't a one-time rebuild so much as an ongoing discipline.

Outcome

Within 90 days the firm's core service pages began appearing in Google's AI Overviews for the exact queries prospective clients were typing, and organic leads converted at nearly double the previous rate — traffic that used to require paid spend to reach was arriving on its own.

Let's build what's next.
